He is a really great photographer and overall great person. After looking at photographs of Manhattan in his “Local Weather” series, I had to get in touch with him and share some beers/ideas/thoughts. Photographing my home town has always been a challenge for me. When you live somewhere for so long, you often forget how to look at it. Mentally, it is hard to overcome the preconceived ideas/images that have been molded into our minds. Telling your brain to look at something in a different light is so hard to do. Lexi’s grandfather worked in the coal mines in and around Crawford county. Being in towns such as Arma, where the main industry has ceased, makes me wonder what will become of them in the next 20 years. </p> <p>I think I will take some time off in the short future and drive around Kansas for a couple of weeks/months documenting these places.
